The short version
Clean Invoice keeps your records on your iPhone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server holding your invoices. We do not collect your data, because it never reaches us.
This policy explains what Clean Invoice (“the app”, “we”, “us”) does with information when you use it. It is written against what the app actually does, and it applies to the iOS app published at cleaninvoice.org.
What we collect
Nothing. Clean Invoice has no accounts, no login and no analytics. We do not receive your business details, your customers, your invoices, your payments or your expenses. We have no way to see them.
The app contains no advertising, no tracking, no third-party analytics and no advertising identifiers. It does not build a profile of you and there is nothing to opt out of.
Where your information lives
Everything you enter is stored on your device:
- Your business name, logo, contact details and invoice defaults
- Your customers, including any address and notes you add
- Your invoices, line items and recorded payments
- Your services and prices
- Your logged expenses and any receipt photos you attach
These are held in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. Files that could contain personal details — receipt photos, exported spreadsheets, generated invoice PDFs and the autosaved draft — are written with iOS file protection, so they cannot be read while your phone is locked.
If you have iCloud Backup switched on, Apple’s device backup may include the app’s data as part of backing up your phone. That backup is between you and Apple; we have no access to it.
What leaves your device, and only when you choose
The app never transmits your records on its own. Information leaves your iPhone only when you deliberately send it:
- Sending an invoice. When you share an invoice, iOS hands the PDF to whichever app you pick — Mail, Messages, WhatsApp, Files. Where it goes from there is that app’s business, and your customer’s.
- Exporting a spreadsheet. Exported CSV files are created on your device and shared the same way. The customer export includes addresses and notes, so be deliberate about where you send it.
- Sending feedback. If you use “Give feedback”, the app opens an email to us, pre-filled with your rating and anything you wrote, plus the app version. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or cancel it.
- Contacting support. If you email us, we have whatever you put in that email.
Permissions the app asks for
Camera
Used only when you scan or photograph a receipt for an expense. The photo is saved on your device and attached to that expense. It is not uploaded.
Microphone and speech recognition
Used only when you choose to speak an invoice instead of typing it. Speech recognition is pinned to on-device recognition: the audio is turned into text on your iPhone and is not sent to Apple or to us. If your device cannot do on-device recognition, the app reports the feature as unavailable rather than quietly falling back to the network. The audio is not saved.
Photos
When you pick a logo or a receipt from your photo library, iOS shows its own picker and hands the app only the image you selected. The app does not get access to the rest of your library.
Contacts
When you import a customer from your address book, iOS shows its own contact picker and returns only the one contact you tap. The app never has access to your contact list, and iOS does not even ask for contacts permission for this.
Notifications
If you turn on payment reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. They are reminders to you about unpaid invoices. The app does not contact your customers, and nothing is sent to a server to make them work.
Payments
If Clean Invoice offers a paid subscription, purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your card details, and we do not process payments ourselves. Apple’s terms and privacy policy govern that transaction.
Payments you record inside the app — cash, a check, a transfer from a customer — are just notes you typed. The app does not move money and is not connected to any bank or payment processor.
Children
Clean Invoice is a tool for running a business and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect information at all.
Deleting your information
Because your records are on your device, you control them completely:
- Erase everything in Settings removes your invoices, customers, services, expenses, receipt photos, logo and business details from the app.
- Deleting the app from your iPhone removes all of it too, without asking. If you might want your records later, export them first.
There is nothing for us to delete on our side, and no request you need to send us, because we were never holding it.
If that changes
We may add optional accounts and backup in a future version. If we do, this policy will be updated before that version ships, the app will tell you what signing in means, and it will remain your choice — the app is built to work without an account.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the current version is always at this address.
